A Master Sergeant with 26 years of service in the U.S. Army, Joseph Lemieux, is another service member who has successfully transitioned into a promising career through CPI’s industry internship program. Joseph's hard work and commitment to the opportunity resulted in an outcome that exemplifies the goals of our training!
Internship Process & Experience:
CPI worked to connect Joseph with construction companies in Concord, New Hampshire, Joseph’s preferred transition location. Despite not having a construction background, one of the companies, Milestone Engineering & Construction, Inc., met with Joseph virtually and agreed to partner with CPI, providing Joseph with an opportunity. Upon starting the internship, Joseph immediately dug in, embracing every opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and expand his knowledge and understanding of the industry.
Moving Forward with Milestone
Joseph received and accepted an offer for permanent position with Milestone Construction! His hard work, commitment, and acquired skills have set him on a path to a promising future, and we're proud to see him take these exciting next steps in his post-military career.
“I worked directly with Milestone, assisting with new and remodelling construction projects. I received on-the-job training, learning about contracting, blueprint drawings, basic construction, electrical, masonry, site supervision, and marketing. I assisted a Site Superintendent overseeing the construction of a low-income housing building project. Responsibilities included opening and closing job sites, supervising safety, working with subcontractors, material management, and hands-on construction training. I also worked on building HVAC platforms, blocking and bracing bathroom and kitchen walls, safety mitigations for falls and other injuries, and minor repairs and corrections.”
